JEEVANI CETRE OF STUDENT WELLBEING

Jeevani is a project by the Department of Collegiate Education, Government of Kerala, in technical collaboration with National Institute of Mental Health & Neurosciences (NIMHANS), Bengaluruwhich focuses on the mental well-being of the students in the government colleges in Kerala. Jeevani intends to improve awareness and promotion of mental health among college students along with ensuring early identification of psychological issues among these students. Jeevani has been launched in 2019 across all govt colleges in Kerala in the background of compelling evidence that many students are experiencing psychological issues which require professional assistance. Jeevani is a first of its kind venture in the state of Kerala.

Jeevani has been envisioned as a scheme to improve the overall mental health of college students. It aims to achieve this through prevention and promotional activities and facilitation of early identification and management of mental health conditions. The primary aim of the college counsellor is to create an atmosphere of acceptance of mental health.

Total number of cases assessed 151 including 31, which includes anxiety, academic problem,interpersonel problems,stress, depression,anger management problems, career related issues,etc

Mental health promotional activities (65hrs)

23 mental health awareness classes in various departments: Main focus was Importance of having positive mental health and precautions. Also covered the services provided by jeevani psychologist

10-10-2019  World Mental Health Day  (JEEVANI&NSS) As part of world Mental health day the following programs were arranged

Awareness class on “MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS AMONG YOUTH” by Mrs. Shaimah Abdul Kader(Additional Counsellor, Family Court,Tirur) in seminar hall at 2.30 p.m

Wall painting on the topic 40Seconds of action to prevent suicide. Anyone can draw within 40 seconds. The function was inaugurated by respected principal Dr,Ushakumary by drawing a smiley.

Way to positive thoughts.  Positive thoughts were written in colourful piece of papers and hanged it in the college entrance

Street play(jeevani&malayalam department): street play was conducted on the theme prevention of suicide

 03-12-2019International Day of Disabled Persons An experience sharing session on the difficulties faced by disabled was conducted by JEEVANI in collaboration with NSS. The session was handled by Sri. Muthu Assistant Professor in the department of Malayalam, TMGC.

23-12-2019Workshop on life skills for NSS volunteers as part of NSS camp

 29-01-2020  Kunjunakshathragal, Kaliyil alpam Karyam A new initiative were taken by the JEEVANI for kids in collaboration with NSS.The programme was names as “KUNJUNAKSHATHRAGAL: Kaliyil alpam Karyam”. The programme aimed at making the little kids aware about their body safety. On 29-01-2020, the selected students were trained to take class for the lower primary students

 31-01-2020 Body safety education for kids The trained NSS volunteers went to the  LP schools at paravanna and Pariyapuram and they have taken awareness class on “Body safety”

09-03-2020  International women’s day The international women’s day celebrated by conducting pencil drawing competition, quiz competition and just a minute for talk on the topics related to women in Association with NSS.
